Botanical name: Mentha arvensis Parts used: Leaf Common method of Extraction: Steam distilled Origin: Hokkaido(Takigami machi ) Hakka is a Japanese species of mint that grows wildly. It contains 1.5times more menthol as main component with stronger refreshing sensation than peppermint. It has been used as medicine to cure eyestrain since the age when Manyoshu was written. The main producing district is Hokkaido. Pale magenta flowers come out in summer and autumn.
